Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is energy that comes from natural sources such as solar, wind, wave, and geothermal heat sources. These sources are valued because they are naturally replenished—the sun keeps shining every day, for example, and wind continues to generate—whereas traditional sources like coal and oil are ultimately finite.
The desire and need for renewable energy sources is higher today than it ever has been. There are a number of reasons for this, including the recognized need for non-polluting energy and the fluctuating and sometimes high price of gasoline.
As a result, wind power, for example is growing at about 30% every year. Photovoltaic arrays are selling more than the ever have before, and solar thermal power stations currently operate in both the United States and Spain, with more construction planned. More than likely, these trends will continue as demand for renewable energy sources continues to increase.
