Solar Lights FAQs

What is the most effective way of installing solar panels?

Solar panels work best on south-facing homes with no shading from other trees or buildings. If you have the option of starting from scratch—for example, if you are building a house for the first time and want solar paneling—design the roof at the correct angle facing southward.

What are some of the advantages of solar energy compared to other alternative sources of energy?

There are advantages and disadvantages to all forms of renewable energy. One of the biggest advantages of solar energy is that wind and water power rely on turbines to turn generators in order to produce electricity. Turbines and generators have moving parts that require maintenance when they break down. Additionally, they are noisy. Photovoltaic power, by contrast, is generated directly from the sun. These systems require very little maintenance, are quiet, and the cells can last years.

Can solar power be generated at night?

No. Since it relies on the sun, solar power cannot be generated at night. However, many devices utilize solar batteries to store energy from the sun during the day to be released at night (solar lights are a good example of this). Most solar kits, in fact, come with solar batteries that can continue to power a device or a system after the sun goes down. It nevertheless remains the case that solar panels do not receive the sun’s energy at night, and this could potentially have an effect on how people plan their daily schedules.
